I don't know about the OP, but one of my best friends I met as a freshmen in college, who I always felt a spiritual connection with, even many years after college (may he rest in peace), took a minute before getting on his feet after graduating from law school. He had to take jobs for several years as a car salesmen, and a convenient store clerk, before he started making any good money. But that law degree never got him the job or the money he thought it would lead him to. That happened to a lot of Black law school graduates. When I first met him, he said he wanted to be a judge. All I know is he was serious, because it took me 13 years to get a BS, while it took him only 6 years to get his BS and Law Degree. But it wasn't all a lost for him, because he did marry a beautiful wife he met in law school, and they raised three girls, and put them all through college. He was the only close friend of mine with the Cosby family set up.
