What's the average career length for rugby players? Some of the beatings they take are just

The main factor which I've seen that contributes to the longevity of the average rugby career over average NFL careers (aside from the difference in sizes of the average player [height/weight etc[) is that from a young age we are taught how to tackle properly.

I know for a fact Seattle has really gotten into incorporating rugby tackling principles in its defense. It's safer and more efficient.
I guess the issue in the NFL is some dudes don't know how to tackle safely and that's where you get some nasty injuries where they target the legs and the head (formerly). I can only imagine having pads and other equipment makes that impact worse.

The main thing saving Rugby players from massive concussions is that they know to tackle (not this guy ) and their blocking is a hell of a lot less reliant on headbutting the guy in front of them constantly

It's pretty normal to turn pro at 18 and many dudes play into their 30's and play 100+ games for their national team.

Another factor lengthening their careers is that there are several professional leagues and a few countries have fully professional second divisions, so players that fall off have way more options.
