honestly a lot can change in a year. I'm BYKE!!

I was looking at my January statements from last year

CC #1 $ -7222
CC #2 $ -5085
CC #3 $ -2855
CC #4 $ +15.15 :mjlol:

Savings account: 0.03
Checking account:1700

A nikka was in the fukking HOLE and literally BLEEDING money to interest charges (CC #1 took $600 in interest alone through 7 months before I transferred the balance.I'm scared to add up the total interest across all three cards, don't need anymore negativity in my life LOL) worst came to worst when my grandpa died At the end of January. I spiraled for the next 6 months. Made very little money(I work on 100% commission) .

Imagine only having enough to for the $125 minimum payment then getting slapped immediately with a $105 interest charge :sadcam:

Things came to a head in July of last year. I tried harder at work. Paid down what I could, opened up a new CC(LOL) at 0% APR and lied about my income so I could have a higher limit. Balance transferred about 10k and spent another few thousands paying down and as of today I'm debt free!

Now I'm paid off on ALL my CCs and have roughly 15k in savings :blessed:

I hadn't really thought about how far I've come in a year until I sat here and reflected looking at the numbers.

Thankfully no student loans since I'm a drop out :win:

To think this exact time last year, I was in a blue uniform simping a chick who had a boyfriend. Life can go from shyt to legit in a jiffy.

15k savings in 1 year. Impressive. I dont have a savings account. I just save in my checking account.

It's a little better to have your excess in a savings account. At least you know it was no accident you used money from it, because you'd have to make an effort to transfer money back over to the checking. Plus you do get a little bit of interest off of it, even though it's not much in most cases, but still.

Of course there's also investments.

Brehs sign up with Chase Sapphire Reserve Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card | Chase.com

You should only use a rewards credit card. Pay it off completely the next month. If you can't do this than you are living beyond your means. If you cant do this don't get the card.

If you use the amazon a lot use the amazon chase reserve card.

Also title your savings account as an "Emergency Fund" and use it when times get tough or when you need a new vehicle (buy it used and pay it all down with cash).

This way when you are in a bind you don't have to take from your investments which will destroy it's growth. Think of an Emergency fund and investment insurance.

Work that snowball effect and reduce unnecessary spending

Planning on maxngnour my IRA contribution and doubling my savings to 30k by this time next year :salute:

A lot of people have the means to do what I did. Just too many people like to spend money on bullshyt.
