I lowkey feel like that game, Crash Team Racing and Diddy kong Racing still shyts on Mario Kart. Something about Mario Kart just feels empty, like you do a cup or two and that's it.

It feels as if Nintendo is just coasting on the name these days. I'm playing World and while it looks beautiful and can be fun, I can't help but feel like been there done that while playing. I honestly wish they'd make a Nintendo Kart racer with a hub based world for the campaign and at least make it a much more bombastic game. Don't get me wrong World is a great game, but after a few cups I didn't feel like I was compelled to put more time in as a SP mostly gamer. That's my issue, Mario Kart has been lacking when it comes to content for SP gamers.

Diddy Kong Racing had fun things to do outside of the racing(hidden collectibles), boss races and the hub world made it feel like you were on an adventure.
Sonic All Star Racing Transformed was fukking insane. That game on PC was legit a problem. 120fps at 4K was eye melting.
Crash Team Racing was just as fun as Sonic and that was an even older game.

Diidy Kong Racing had you in a hub with a fukking Indian elephant riding on a magic carpet, had you racing a rampaging triceratops, flying planes. Mario Kart has Toad, a couple piranha plants and a cow.

They dropped the ball to not have some kind of story to make better use of the open world, especially considering how long this was in development for. The whole selling point for the game is an open world but there's very little to do there :beli: They also failed to address the way items appear which basically punish players for being ahead in races.

Sonic team racing is better. Mario kart isnt really about racing skill. Its about item management. Not really fun to me

I’ve always hated how mario kart isn’t really “racing”

Its more about manipulating the mechanics to win.

You can be great at “racing” and still not win the race :smh:

It's crazy how they did that. When I saw the open world in the reveal I was excited thinking they're possibly going to have a big campaign or something using the entire world and it's just instead there for basically nothing. They could've had you start off one area, drive to another location with objectives and had special races like racing a specific character or obstacles in the area. There's some weird decisions Nintendo make in some of their games like how haven't anyone not thought of this?
