I'm kinda mixed on this, I thought the Shonda thing was cool cause ABC/Disney don't have an adult brand so she couldn't do anything gritter on ABC but they seem to be going after all the major guys like the Ryan Murphy news this week. I don't want to ever get to the point that all the shows I watch are Netflix originals

Thoughts?

It's actually worse with movies IMO, I actually never want to get to the point that everyone goes to Netflix instead of releasing things in the theater

I’m mixed as well homie. I’m always cool with artists getting the proper canvas to do their thing on and I know in Ryan Murphy’s situation, Fox being in limbo sort of forced his hand.

I think they’re going after people like him and Shonda because they want to be a force and eventually just be their own studio. Content is king and they’re going to want all their shyt to be Netflix originals. Especially if/when the other studios start creating their own streaming sites. They see the train coming

Thinking about it more Survivor and now to a lesser extent 60 Minutes are the only network show I watch regularly.
I mean to watch Blackish but I forget because it is on network TV. lol

With the Disney/Fox merger and having a controlling stake in Hulu, it's obvious Disney is trying to take Netflix's spot.

Netflix has no choice but to counterattack and go to all out war. If it means taking away a talented producer away from Disney, that's the least of what Netflix can do.
And we're assuming Disney does not have any Star Wars films exclusive to their new platform.

It’s all good. Too many shows got cancelled on broadcast tv so now we are stuck with the same stuff.

I also thought Joss Whedon would have hit us with a Netflix show before he got involved with Disney/Avengers.

Edit
Didn’t know Shonda got snatched.

Overpriced tickets, over priced snacks and drinks, people on their phones, people talking/coughing through the movie is >>>>>>>

Word?:dwillhuh:

Depends on the theater and the movie. I love the theater experience. Especially if I’m at an Alamo. That’s a great experience and they do everything in their power to make sure it stays that way. Same with a place like the arclight

I'll admit certain movies are enhanced or can best be appreciated by being seen in Imax (Gravity, Avatar, Dunkirk, etc), but if you have a good sound system and quality TV, what are you gaining by watching the majority of films in a theatre?
