Major Backstage Chaos thread reminded me of the rumor I hear at least once every couple of months, that Punk wants to retire immediately. Like, within the next year or something?

As far as Punk is concerned, WZROnline.com is hearing that “The Best In The World” is again seriously contemplating retirement, or simply parting ways with WWE. As noted in the past, Punk is dealing with a number of injuries and is generally unhappy with the direction WWE is currently headed. Punk is known to be “moody” at times and whether or not this is another example of that, or the real deal this time, remains to be seen.

What do you think my good brehs?

I don't want to see him go because he still has a lot of great moments, this year alone his matches against Taker and Lesnar are easily MOTY candidates. I was at Hell in a Cell live in miami, and that whole show was :snooze: status except for the tag match and CM Punk climbing the cell and putting the beats on Heyman.

On the other hand, Ive seen Mick Foley in person this year too... and i know nobody is taking the bumps Mick took, or the same volume of bumps but seeing him hobble around really makes you think about how much punishment a wrestler's body takes. Maybe Punk should just get out immediately for his own good.

Will he be able to stay gone?

I think it would be cool for him to retire and come back after like a whole year.

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
He does seem burned out, but nobody has put on better matches than Punk this year. If I had to make a list of the top 10 WWE matches of the year, 6 of them featured CM Punk. Maybe he needs to get that contract that RVD, Lesnar, and Jericho have where he shows up for just a number of appearances every year.

Nagging injuries can take a serious toll on you over time, due to physical reasons, all wrestlers should get 2 months off at least of just letting your body heal. If fans don't like it, fukk em, they're not taking any risks. Other wrestlers could use that time in the 2 months where some guys are gone to try and extract some shine in the process.

I do believe he doesn't want to re-sign after his current deal is done, you can see the guy is burned down and it's getting injured way too often.

BUT, Punk is the kind of guy that after 6 months or 1 year of resting will feel the itch to go back. It wouldn't shock if he shows up on indy events just so he can fukk around for a while. But he'll be back in WWE eventually :manny:

My thinking on Punk, is that he wants to get into MMA like Eve did with Gracie Jiu Jitsu. The Pepsi Plunge ruined Punk's knees, more than the abuse on his body. Could he retire completely, maybe. Would need to find that wrestler to bring him out, because Punk is best as a abrasive heel; he is best at being a a$$hole. It's why I think he is into MMA, he likes to talk shyt to people and try to back it up.

If he does leave, he won't stay away for long. He'd probably go on a hiatus like Jericho did, but he'd be back before you know it. He seems way too dedicated to just go home and chill at age 35.

Look at Edge. He retired relatively young. I wouldnt be surprised if Punk did too
