Yea.
I mean, let me go on record and say that he is COMPLETELY WRONG and misogynistic when he says that current day women only want status and that is why women all want the men who are a “4” or “5”!
What MEN of status (which includes him) don’t want to admit to the average or lowly men of today is: the ELITE (white) men have run western society into the ground.
The average man could have a regular job and support a family, with a wife who could make additional income doing something small on the side.
Now college grads have a harder time finding employment than those without degrees!
These are hard fukking times and things are only going to get worse.
A woman would have to be a fool to sign up for pregnancy without some serious guarantees in 2026.
It’s not that women are all chasing status. It’s that men who have been screwed by this society are taking that anger out on women instead of the men who have structured this society, men who are literally planning for AI to take away 40% of people’s jobs.
The average man can’t live comfortably because wealthy white men have extracted as much money as possible out of the economy, and the average woman is realizing that the same way he is getting a raw deal, she will be getting a raw deal as the average woman who has to work, have kids, and attempt to pay for childcare that is as much as or more than a mortgage.
I’m with him on practically everything else, but he came to his conclusion without actually speaking to women.
So he was wrong on that topic. And it is an BIG DEAL. But, aside from that, I’m rocking with Professor Jiang.
Yeah, I could always do without "the logic of hypergamy"...
1) What I wanted him to go more into are the "hard cases" about self-made wealthy.
Actual self made-zero help billionaires were minted during the first internet boom....
And then they learn the ways of the "old" rich and repeat the same BS.
2) The bookend of what he's saying is what Gary's Economics say.
The 0.01% who already own most everything compete with us for resources (and control our wages) - and are now selling us back those resources through rent.
When the market dips, they have money to buy more assets that make money.
So they buy up houses - through their asset managers like Black Rock - i.e. there are actual people/families behind those "faceless" corporattions - they buy the existing houses and rent them out, and the buy the land to either not build housing, or build luxury housing.
And the rental income - goes to buy more rentals.
