As a black male who will be pursuing an advanced degree come fall, this is a crock of b/s. Racism isn't something that's going to cease to effect you as a person of color simply by "focusing on you," making good grades, speaking properly, and pretending it doesn't exist. Black people get a little money, status, and a degree and all of sudden those who attended piss poor public schools or weren't born 6'6 inches tall are simply making excuses.
