Two men face charges in connection with the robbery of a man who agreed to meet a woman through an online dating service.
Dezhon D. Howell, 22, and Travonne R. Howell, 20, both of Akron, are charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and trafficking in marijuana in Akron Municipal Court.
Both are being held in the Summit County Jail on $100,000 bond.
Police who raided a Seward Street home on Wednesday found a handgun and shotgun that may have been used in the robbery, police said. Officers also found a package of marijuana hidden inside a toilet tank.
Both Howells were present during the raid, police said.
The Howells are accused of helping two others ransack a man's home and stealing items during one of two robberies set up by Lashon Hamilton, 18, of Akron.
Hamilton is charged in both robberies — including new charges of kidnapping and robbery. She is held at the county jail on a combined $200,000 bond.
The Howells are charged with participating only in the first robbery.
Hamilton is accused of contacting a 31-year-old man via Tagged, court records say. She met with the man about 11:30 p.m. Dec. 19 at his home in the 2100 block of Sixth Street S.W.
Hamilton showed up with a man she claimed was her brother, police and court records say. Hamilton, both Howells and the third man ransacked the 31-year-old man's house and stole $8, an Xbox 360 and jewelry, court records say.
Hamilton is also charged with setting up another meeting with a man through a dating website about two hours later.
The other man reported he picked up a woman that he met online on Virginia Avenue. The woman, who police later identified as Hamilton, said she was with her brother and asked the man if they could drop her brother off somewhere.
The other man put a gun to the driver's head and demanded he stop the car and move over to the passenger seat. The gunman rummaged through the man's wallet and was angered when he found no cash, police reports say.
He ordered the man to drive to a bank to withdraw money, but the man said he had no money in the bank, according to police. The gunman then forced the man out of his car at South Main Street and Russell Avenue and sped off with Hamilton, police say.
