whats the difference?

"Sugar Hill" is more smoother sonically. "If I Ruled The World" has a darker sound to it. AZ is imaging an escape where Nas is imagining a world where he ran it. If anything, "If I Ruled The World" is Nas's response to his own "The World Is Yours".

youre reaching hard.

both rapping about a fantasy world over popular '80s samples with an r&b singer killing the hook and ARGUABLY stealing the show.

How am I reaching? I stated that they are similar, but still very different. Both are fantasies, but told from different perspectives. Both are 80's samples, but "If I Ruled The World" samples Hip Hop group Whodiini with the chorus borrowing elements from the Kurtis Blow song of the same name and a Delfonics song. If we're talking fantasy raps over '80's samples with an R&B singer killing the hook, the '90's were full of those.
