:what: @ people saying they never heard it

this board really filled wit little kids :wtf:

That's exactly what I'm thinking. The average age of the posters on this site has to be about 18 for the number of people to not have heard this. I remember when this dropped in 2000 and it's made many of my Nas mixes.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
You obviously don't know ya hip hop history..it was started by freestyle fellowship like 20 something years ago and to this day it still hold true..

Gtfoh

No..u dont know what u talkin bout...a "freestyle" is a rhyme that is free of style...it can be written...spittin off the top of the head was called goin "off the dome"...and THAT wasnt even taken as seriously as it is now..nikkas used to do that for fun...and if u think im lyin I can point u in Big Daddy Kane's direction so u can hear it out of his mouth as well..

jeezus christ cats is really arguing about the definition of a freestyle.

YES a "freestyle" is a rapper inventing shyt and rhyming on the spot.

YES the definition of a "freestyle" now may as well be a rapper spitting shyt that's never been heard on an official album or mixtape, it doesn't matter if it's pre-written.

I'm an old nikka, too.... and you cats really need to let a lot of shyt go.

I remember this....internet was talking about it back then, I had it on a mix cd, 'Eye For an Eye' freestyle, it was kinda known, but not known he was talking about Jay, no one new where it was gonna lead, and we were still a long way from the battle, Summer Jam, and 'The Blueprint'. Nas was considered on the ropes, kinda, he was still killing verses, and this was part of his resurgence leading up to Summer 2001. He was coming off 'Nastradamus'.

any nas fan with clout knows about this jayz diss, only youngins missed out.

this freestyle came out after prodigy had taken various shots in songs, on radio etc.

this tape came out feb. 2000 and everyone knew he was takin shots at jayz. it wasn't some secret.

let's not add no fake legends to nas list. what happened was jayz made everyone forget about lil mixtape potshots with his subs that were gettin heavy airplay.

the next time nas got the wow was the stillmatic freestyle.

:what: @ people saying they never heard it

I remember this. I was back in like 9th grade searching for any freestyle I could find from my favorite rappers on Napster :ahh:

I also the one Prodigy did. "Everybody stand back it's bout to get ugly. They tryna shyt on me, like I ain't a made nikka. I ain't gotta send soldiers I hit nikkas. ... This ain't the Roc, nikka, we ain't them fakkit ass nikkas!" :leon:

yea i remember this- nas killed this freestyle n camel too

this's very known freestyle. I thought everybody already heard it. Still classic shyt.

This is my you can't kill me nyggas
I'm already dead, BRING IT!

shyt as time went on I grew to like the lil side tracks more than big official diss tracks in the beef....this, stillmatic freestyle and people talking prolly get the most play from me at this point...you can tell the whole "king of ny" thing irked Nas throughout the years...he through similar shots at Big (not as harsh though) on the Affirmative Action remix..."take the crown off the so called king of the town, and lock it down"

a freestyle is rapPing a verse that u haven't said before and makes sense which a lot of attempters fail to remember lol A freestyle of merit should include referring to things in their current view and/or include current events like being the studio there and then so you know that it is not pre-thought out.

Show Discipline is a gr8 track coz it involves to two top lyricist at the top of their game. What I'll say about Nas on this track is how mature & sexy he sounds, and absolutely obliterates Jada, who did good too.
