Who is he calling "Left Wing"? Democratic party....yes, they are the champions of the status quo.
Voters haven't. Left wing policies win on national ballots and in most states. Progressive taxing, raising minimum wages, expanding affordable Healthcare, addressing wealth inequality, public school funding, client change initiatives, lgtbq34#@ equality, expanding pathways to citizenship, criminal justice reform, worker/union protections are not Right Wing goals and never will be.
Even still, the modern Democratic Party purports to defend all of the above but they do it at a snails place at best, as to not cause a disruption. At worse, the Dems fold whenever these policies are challenged.
Dems have folded so many times they've concluded its easier to conceded on non-urgent issues to win on the big issues. To the outside looking in, they've moved closer to the right. It reality, they're still center left because the Dem base is full of left wing, multi-issue voters.
The Right is moving further to the right for the opposite reasons. As the GOP became more inclusive after Obama's second win, people like Trump show up to rally the single issue voters. Proof? One of the most right wing bases in recent memory voted in a white Pres with an immigrate wife and a white VP with an Indian wife. The generation that voted for the Civil Rights Act, Roe and Brown wouldn't have done this yet this current generation is trying to undo those laws.
