Alternative facts!

If you're going to use Diaz's stints at Texas and Mississippi State as supporting arguments then you must also take into account the lack of talent those second year squads had. It is common knowledge that Mack Brown's last recruiting classes were below the standard of athlete that Texas normally recruits and Mississippi State is Mississippi State. They get the second tier SEC caliber player.

Diaz's Miami defensive scheme is predicated on having the calibur of talent that the Miami area produces. He has those athletes on this roster and is recruiting the same calibur of athlete to replenish it going forward.

You buggin Breh!

good response :ehh:

I do hope that having coach Kool and SFL athletes is what Diaz needs to get over the hump and be considered a top flight DC. We will find out soon enough. As I mentioned, I ain't even bugging over the D breh, I think we'll be straight - even our secondary issues are pretty much completely fixed now. We need a QB in the worst way.

good call on Amari Carter, dude has been getting great reviews from everyone so far. Plus, if he steps up, we have an emergency corner (Redwine or Jaquan) if needed. Our corners are strong but we dont have a lot of depth there :lupe:

While I'm excited for the season, the pessimistic side of me is :jbhmm:

Will Richt get his shxt together and adjust the offense to suit players like JT, Ahmmon, Harley, etc.? Are we going to see a more modern offense?
Will we get similar production/impact on D that Corn provided?
Will Chad finally get over the hump and live up to his 5* ranking?
How will Diaz's D look in year 2?
What if N'Gawdski isn't mentally ready?
What if the OL hasn't improved?
I think our roster is good enough to win the Coastal but anyone talking about competing outside of that :francis:We don't have the numbers/talent at OL, RB, and DB. Even Richt has mentioned how the depth isn't where it needs to be. The main thing I want to see is consistency this year. We can't be hitting on all cylinders and then come to a complete halt when we face FSU, which then takes the team a couple of games to get back in to rhythm. That shxt has to stop :beli:

Anyone else follow recruiting? If you don't, keep it that way. These jits will raise your blood pressure.

The bold is the biggest ? mark going into the year. I feel like Richt knows he has to speed things up, run more spread concepts. But every time I hear him talk about guys possibly playing FB I get :lupe: Flip side is why would he run so much RPO stuff with a statue of a QB, 2 NFL TE's and a lack of depth at WR last year if this isn't the kind of offense he wants going forward.

I haven't given the defense a seconds thought this entire offseason. Kool and Diaz got this thing down pat. Outside of Corn the other 3 new starters will prolly be upgrades vs last years group.

Mark Richt broke down what he saw from freshman QB N'Kosi Perry after fall practice #1 .

"He's got very good passing fundamentals, which is what I thought. I've seen him throw at camp and 7-on-7s, but in the context of what were asking him to do, he really does have good quarterback passing fundamentals. Not a lot of wasted motion, he's got nice zip on the ball, he understands touch. He's a passer, not just a thrower."

Perry seems to be on par with what is expected of him physically, but the question remains is he understanding the concepts, language, and everything that comes with leading an offense at the quarterback position.

"I'd say he's getting about 50% of it, which is probably pretty good for the pace were going at," Richt added. "We'll install at a pace that's faster than comfortable for him, but he'll catch up."

Richt said that Malik Rosier and Evan Shireffs ran the first team offense today, with Perry and fellow freshman Cade Weldon running the 2nd and 3rd units. Richt also said, "we may continue the same rotation, but I'm not sure."
