I wasn't getting all the hate for this album. The early reviews had me worried but should've figured these were probably not full on Cudi fans. Dude put in some work on the boards.

He's decent. But he really should have got in more experience or pushed the album forward to fine tune it imo.
Imagine his progression as a producer in a couple years :wow2:
i've said it before. Cudi needs to back away from the MIC.
the guy is a legit producer. not just a beat maker. he knows how to make whole songs. verse, hooks, bridge, the vibe. he has a nack for it. he's just so bad at half rapping and singing its hard to listen to him seriously. but the music/vibe is good enough to carry him.
the dude is very talented. i really wish some how i could get Ceelo singing his singing parts, and get a few rappers spitting his verses(joe budden mr mood music would be perfect on a few tracks), andre 3stacks, KRIT, Kendrick).

i will admit its a double standard. cudi isnt hiphop. he's alternative rock.
but since he's a black dude that came out as if he was hiphop. you have to have more talent then the average atlernative bad sounding rock singer.
think about it, most of the white dudes and chicks cant even sing that well on those rock songs. people just love the music, the vibe, and the lyrics. not the actual delivery of said lyrics. white alternative artists get a pass like that. black folks in RNB and hiphop Dont. you have to be talented. and the beat has to be hot.

i mean i know britney spears cant sing...
most of them can't sing to MY standards of "wow now that chick can SING."
thats true RNB singer standards. not new age POP RnB (autotune it to death, pitch fix it to death).
and especially the dudes. the dudes sound so so at best MOST times. because to white folks its not about their voice being great. its about great lyrics, a great vibe, great instrumentation.
to the point where when i listen to those songs i'm listening for the same thing. i give them a pass and dont look for a great SINGER to go along with the rest.
but let a black person pick up a mic and i know how i feel about it. i'm looking for SERIOUS singing ability and/or singing rapping ability. like i said, i'm putting the double standard on people myself unintentionally.
this is why its hard for me to truly ride with CUDI. he's an alternative artist that can sing well and cant rap well . when i say well, i mean at my standards, he cant sing as well as trey songz, and he cant rap as well as kendrick lamar. and i dont think trey is a GREAT singer. but he's at least at professional level for a RNB singer.
cudi sounds terrible trying to sing. but the manner in which he tries to sing is actually on point. this is why i think he needs to produce people with the talent. i really believe he would make some really dope albums with other people. notice on this last album. every song with a REAL rapper sounds better to his music. even the one song with the one chick singing(she cant sing that well, but she sounds better then cudi). now imagine if he mapped out songs/albums for top tier rappers with talent and top tier singers with talent.
