Gettin tired of getting washed by my girl and her brother :beli: but these nikkas played formally in school and I’m just starting as an adult.

My athletic game in general is all power, played defensive end, tight end and power forward positions...I have no finesse so I either hit the balls way too far majority of the time or not enough, trying to hold back. Tried holding the racquet with 2 hands and i have way too much power on the ball to keep it inbounds.

I’m pretty sure I have some terrible fundamentals so that’s basically what I need to work on. Tried googling the shyt and they talk in tennis terms like i know wtf they’re saying :skip:

Might end up paying for a trainer just to learn the basics...

Yeah, take lessons

You swinging for homeruns in the wrong sport, launching balls into the stands.

Hitting a tennis ball inch or 2 above the net is fukking hard :sadcam:

hard as fukk, like I said i either hit too hard or the ball doesn’t even make it across the net :francis:

It’s a hard sport
Aim to hit the ball at waist height
Also buy a good racquet and go to a school in the evenings and hit against a wall

Will try the waist height thing, got a good racquet as far as I know ( boombaclat max 110 ). Schools and indoor facilities are closed to the public

what city are you in?

I’m in Chicago and I play in Hyde park right off the lakeshore drive / 57th street exit by promontory point

regents park!?!!!!!

well first go to stagg field on cottage.
so you can play on a level court.
then if serious seek out group lessons from Hyde park athletic club on 47th.

see if Donald young is available for private lessons.

Harold Washington park tennis courts. Stagg field closed until further notice. Sucks because I’m working at UoC so thatd be the most convenient

if the club still open for lessons now will do :ohhh:

Appreciated OG...

keep the racquet perpendicular to the ground

the moment you hit the ball, add some top spin by turning the racquet over slightly toward the ground. this will keep the ball in while not sacrificing power

Control > power

Hit to the back corners and make your opponent work

I play with my homie a few times a month and he’s better than me, but I can win if my shot placement good.

Also, unless you have a powerful consistent serve, don’t even try to mash it. You’re just wasting energy. I look at it as tennis is a marathon not a sprint. You wanna conserve your energy for longer rally’s.

go behind the museum and hit on the wall there.
as a matter of fact.
you should be able to train there.
it was where i trained alone.
so just know It will not be a lot of visitors.
except possibly ivan the terrible but i am not sure if he is alive.
once he trounces you.
Plus rides by like some wicked wizard every dark cloudly to destroy and own you till you become strong enough to beat him is challenging enough on those courts alone.

so good luck...
he is a villain at Harold park too.
so beware of the legends up there.
who will beat you bad enough.
it puts you at the cross roads if you get serious.
or you get trounced so bad it makes you get serious.
