I have a small social circle and over time I've noticed that while they are very nice people, they aren't particularly aspirational in terms of their careers (e.g. "I don't like my job but I'm afraid if I work somewhere else it'll be worse..I guess I'll just tough it out at this job for the next 30 years til I retire :francis:"). They also don't really seem to be very encouraging about me wanting to make positive changes in my own career or what my potential is :stopitslime:

The whole "you are the average of your 5 closest friends" thing is really starting to resonate with me and I'm looking to make some changes :sadcam:

Can anyone share ways that they've been able to connect in real time with people who are career oriented but also in general hold a positive outlook?:feedme:

Just some random ideas.

Connect with a recruiter to locate a new job. Make friends with new co-worker that think alike. Repeat cycle with a recruiter again.
Join a profession group. Ask if anyone wants grab some food, keep in contact with them.
Volunteer work.

Cut em off you don’t need em. Serious I was in your boat earlier this year. Since then I’ve been more focused and better than ever.
