Tisha Campbell Speaks On Forgiving Martin Lawrence After Sexual Harassment Lawsuit
In an interview on CBS Mornings, Campbell said that she and Lawrence “worked really hard to reconnect, to forgive.”

Now that the official countdown for the official Martin reunion is underway, co-star Tisha Campbell has taken a moment to reflect on how she was able to forgive Martin Lawrence after the sexual harassment lawsuit she filed against him back in 1997.
In an interview on CBS Mornings, Campbell said that she and Lawrence “worked really hard to reconnect, to forgive.”
“This reunion is about a celebration of everything that we did, everything we accomplished and our growth as human beings. So we concentrated mostly on that,” she added.
Back in 2020, Lawrence also took some to reflect on the lawsuit in an interview with GQ, where he was accused of physical and emotional abuse.
“We don’t need to talk about something that just didn’t happen,” Lawrence told the publication. “So I just decided to walk away from the show. I just decided to end it. People said that I got canceled, but that wasn’t the case. I decided to just leave the show.”
Yet, made sure to make it known that his relationship with Campbell is now on good terms.
“Regardless of the past or any misrepresentation of it In the press, I have nothin but love for Tisha then and now,” he captioned in a throwback photo of himself and Campbell. “We are good and always will be!”
BET.com recently spoke with Campbell who expressed how important it was for viewers of the show to see Black love represented on screen in the 90s.
“It really resounded with people's hearts and then the friends that surrounded them, it reminded people that love is real, Black love is real and they can have it, because it’s never been represented before,” Campbell shared. “Seeing us loving one another, figuring out with our friends, what life is all about, and getting through the bad times. It was important to see.”
