Ex-NFL WR Young sentenced to 4 years in prison

The tragic tale of Titus Young entered another chapter when the former Detroit Lions receiver was sentenced to four years in prison.

This sentence, reported by TMZ Sports, stems from a 2016 incident in which the young man left a court-ordered mental health facility and promptly got involved in a vicious street fight with his neighbor.

“According to court records, Young recently pled no contest to 1 count of felony battery causing serious bodily injury … and was sentenced to four years in state prison.”

This follows a long line of outrageous off-field incidents that ended Young’s NFL career early (after just two seasons with the Lions). He has been arrested multiple times in the past, has been hospitalized for mental health issues and avoided a prison sentence back in 2015 after being charged with felony assault, receiving five years of probation instead (more on that here).

At this point, we sincerely hope Young gets the help he needs. Once a promising young up-and-coming receiver, he still has the rest of his life to live at the age of 27.

He just 4 years for assault? (I know he was on probation) What kind of harm did he cause?

Should be getting him help instead of putting him behind bars
It sounds like they already tried that. Got off on probation for the first assault a few years ago then he was court ordered to a mental health treatment center and left. Being court ordered, people always look at it like a punishment when in reality, the system is trying to help someone do something that they either can't or won't necessarily do for themselves.
