After passing the shooting part of the test and taking the class(which around 5 hours, no exam or anything required afterward), it took 3 weeks for my concealed weapons permit to arrive in the mail. The whole shyt costed me around $200 for the class, fingerprints, and payment to the state pigs.
You've gotta look into state laws. The state is live in is WAY more lax on firearms laws than Cali.

Or you can make them up. I don't think they do a whole lot to verify. Nj just sends them a questionnaire I believe . So if you are are worried about anti gun folks around you, there you go
In Washington state I didn’t need any training, though I had training. I just filled out the paperwork paid $75 and my CCL came in a month. To purchase I filled out FFL paperwork, paid for a weapon, waited until NICS background check came back and picked up my weapon. Handgun takes a couple of days, long gun can be the same day.
***edit*** I forgot to mention that you can get handguns same day if you have a concealed carry license/permit.
Georgia was the exact same except I had to be fingerprinted in person.
Neither states requires a permit to own or open carry. To carry in a concealed manner you need a permit/license. No classes required.

got mine at 21 had it revoked 5years later by philly pd when i reported a gun stolen..same requirements as jersey in pennsylvania
