this is where the rethugs fuked up. It's been my experience that most union members were conservative working middle class folk but conservative in terms of social issues. The rethugs, so as to be able to fuk over the little guy, has been going hard at the unions for several decades now.
Right now unions are characterized as evil by rethugs. When they attack unions they usualy talk about the teachers unions or they'll talk about how unions are bad for making money. What they wont talk about are things like the police and firemen unions and they leave out that it's bad for making money, but only if you're rich, otherwise it's one of the best ways for middle class people to move up in america.
All that being said some of these unions need to do some soul searching. A lot of them are now there simply to protect themselves vs give a voice to the workers. That's why you have people making 120k a year and doing absolutely dikk. Shyt like that hurts the argument for unions. Either that or they need to do a better job of pointing out that even though they are making 120k a year for doing dikk it's still just a small sliver of what the company is making.
