To the 3 people who own a Wii U on here...Question

Can I play Wii games on the Wii U without the actual Wii U gamepad? I am not sure if I can set it to boot directly into games and what not...

Got a fool possibly selling me the deluxe deck with box and everything, just minus the controller for $100. I was in the market for a used Wii and think this is a much better buy at the moment as I was eventually going to get one anyway

I think I got my answer already. Setup requires the gamepad, but can do fine without it for Wii games after that.

Don't do it,u need the Gamepad to do essentially everything involved with the system!!! You can use any Wii accessory to play the Wii games on it,but you won't be able to do shyt without the touchscreen pad!!!

For $100 I'd cop a Wii U. You will be able to use it as a Wii if he's already used it before. Even if you couldn't that's well below any fire sale price on it. Later down the line you can cop a gamepad for it.

again ha has to have set the Wii U up already. you can't set a Wii U up without the game pad but once its been set up you can use a Wii remote. my apartment is within the Wii U's range. when i take the dog out to piss i'm gonna put the Wii U gamepad in my trunk and cut the Wii U on and see how it reacts with no gamepad in range.

yeah u could dude but you won't be able to use the system without it, and would have to wait until u got the gamepad,believe me I have one,and I'm sure u could find one for decent price with the gamepad in all the usual spots,not sure where your neck of the woods is,but in my forest u could find one for about $225-275 with the pad and black in color


either way,I think u should wait for the price drop,and bundles they are coming for sure! Me,I am a sucker for new systems,I always say I'm not gonna get it right away and then sure enough I am there day one,720 and PS4 will be NO different

NSMBU is actually fukking pretty damn good,but I see where ur coming from,I bought one day one and have buyers remorse but whatever I would have felt even worse if didn't buy it,alas I am gaming addict,I was thinking I`m not gonna fukk with the NextBox,and then I watched that new IllumiRoom demo even its I`m still getting it!!!!!!

You need it to select he Wii Menu option.

Playing Wii games on HDTV is status. Skip the Wii U and download the games you want to play on Dolphin. MUCH better and it takes hardly any time to set up.

I'm copping a Wii U SOLELY for Smash Brothers 4. Other than that the system can be cancelled right now and not a single fukk would be given.

That's $250 after copping a GamePad and you can find a new Wii U for around that price.

But to answer your question, yes, you can switch to Wii mode.
