Then don't inhale. Just pull and puff, pause.
Similar to what I do when I finally learned how to light a join with a match.
You pull during the combustion where the fire is at it's strongest, rather than wait for it to calm down and hopefully stay lit for you to catch a flame.
Always thought it was movie magic or multiple takes, when you see someone strike a match and light a cig/joint in one go while I'm using multiple.
It's to the point I can light a joint in the rain, if given the circumstance.
I used to use the USB Arc lighters but they always crap out after a few months and for some reason, could just be me being paranoid, the light seems a bit artificial in terms of quality and taste, for some reason. That could just be my bias for some reason.
