Today I found out I’ve been ordering curry goat the wrong way

Apparently you’re supposed to get it with white rice not rice and peas

I always get it with rice and peas cuz I like the flavor but some real yardies over heard me and told me that ain’t the way.

I laugh and get ready to pay, the same yardie then moves me out the way and gets in front of me “white rice not rice and peas”

They all start laughing. He turns around and looks me dead in the eye then gets out the way so I can finish paying for my order.


I get home and try it the right way they said.

I mean it’s Ocay but sometimes rules are meant to be broken

There's no right way. Alotta Jamaican's like it with white rice tho. Trinis as well.

Who cares order it how you like. Curry goat is absolutely flames though. I like it with the roti though.

It is typically eaten with white rice, same with curry chicken. The rice is neutral in flavor for the most part so you can mix it with the gravy. The effect isn’t the same with rice and peas where the rice has way more additives (thyme, pimento, scallion, coconut milk etc). There isn’t any definitive rule though.​
