This case more than anything in recent years showed just how split the country was.
Lot of people out there with the white hood mentality as in klan.

I definitely feel like this was the beginning of this current great racial divide that we are currently going through. Definitely brought questions of race back into the limelight, with our black president, with Robert ZImmerman physically appearing as a hispanic white man, with the media portrayal of Trayvon (both for/against). The paradigm began to shift around the time of Obama's reelection.
