Remember when DMX releasing 2 albums in one year was unheard of?

Remember Jayz bragging about releasing an album every year?

Gucci releasing multiple tapes a year use to be unique

The output from artist now is unbelievable and it makes you wonder is it possible to be a star in this era and you don’t release a lot of music( SZA being a slight anomaly)

# of projects

Gunna 11

Lil baby 11

21 savage 7

Kodak 17

Lil Uzi 10

Lil Durk 25

YB. 35

Is something like this sustainable?

Maybe Ross, Wayne, Drake and Future late 00s, and early 10s normalized this type of output

Quality >>> quantity

Most of the projects released by these “stars” are disposable and easily forgotten
You’re a troll but do you think Stars of the past would be able to go years without releasing projects if they were stars today?

Back when artists would cook and season to perfection, like your grams cooking. These days its more of a microwave flex because the model changed and attention spans as well.

Back in the days an album would hit for months if not years at a stretch as we span it over and over again. Nowadays they stream whatever trends and its as quickly forgotten because its all so disposable. Makes me wonder what would kick if a new Thriller came through and crushed the buildings tho. Would it stand alone or get lost in the mix as well, regardless of how well it was made and presented?

Now, if you'll excuse me I've just had a fresh deliveries of onions to tie to my belt as I watch reruns on VHS.

Kendrick went 5 years without an album and just had the highest grossing rap tour in history
Kendrick isn’t really relevant to this convo because he came up and built his audience in a different era?

Also that Kendrick project didn’t leave any lasting impression on the culture, no hit records and slid off the charts quickly and is being outsold by his previous albums and not the reason his tour grossed so much

Nothing special about music anymore. Too many options to entertain ourselves with
Music is still special to the demos that music is marketed too(teens and young adults). It’s just consumed differently
