U gotta flip the script doe. If u wind up being one of the people they actually need to produce, u gotta exploit the shyt out of THEM. Going to work w/a couple months or years worth of savings and the comfort of knowing you can do shyt that your bosses and coworkers can't is completely different from going to work like 'man today mite be that day my nikkas i barely got enough in my account to buy a snickers bar'. People really underestimate the importance of positioning.

You're right, but at the same time, I've seen dudes who we thought were untouchable try to leverage with another job and were told "better take the other job cuz we're not prepared to give you more $$$". Especially if you're making a high salary, some companies would rather you leave and take their chances with figuring out how to do what you did at a cheaper salary.

That said, there are some dudes who get the red carpet treatment but just don't see it often. In most cases you might get a little raise. At least that's how things work up here.

I need to somehow find a way to work for myself, though. The corporate world just isn't something I want to be a part of for another 30+ years.

I feel you. I have mainly seen it go in the way the employee wanted, but I can def see it not going their way too.

I want to consult to other companies. I would love to be a freelancer but its just not the norm in my industry. Very conservative

Or im out. Job chose to raise. Im telling yall to start taking risks and know your worth. My ultimate goal is to be free from this system , but until then, these corporations gotta cut the check. Made myself indispensable.. They had no choice.

Wish i could triple dap this... this is the realest shyt i ever read... nikkas out here extortin eachother over a few weed bands but instead we could be extortin these demon cacs with our skills... makr yourself invaluable in that bytch then tell that prep school needle nosed cac to CUT THE CHECK

IT people have been doing this for years :myman:...y'all just getting hip to this :mjpls:?

The key is....

1) You get a skill...
2) You master said skill...
3) You continue to set avenues for learning and growth so skill never becomes outdated...
4) Learn how to effectively say..."fukk you, pay me bytch! :pacspit:"

:ahh:
But they can't hear you though.....

I came into this company and I have managed to make this a one man IT shop....when I'm not here it's mayhem....I'm about to go ham on this n!ggas and ask for more cheese...I already did it once :birdman:

The best time to ask for a raise is when you know you are indispensable....
