also the style of play is different

especially defensively

old-school they guarded man to man

now players are expected to have range it's way more stop & go cutting left to right

old-school wasn't as hard on the wheels

This is the biggest difference to me. You watch the players on both ends of the floor and every player is active and moving adn cutting on every single play while also having to cover so much more round. In the old days you might have one or two people actually running off steals and a lot of times only 2-3 players actually active on a play while the rest were able to mainly stand in one place.

It's sad just how greedy all parties involved are since the reason no one wants a shorter schedule is because no one wants to risk leaving any money on the table.

Kids are playing school ball, have 4 unstructured AAU games on a day ,AND are training like pros from 13

THATS the problem. There isn’t any sort of cross training ..by the time they hit 18 they have big miles on them .

Youth sports need to be more centralized/regulated and NBA teams needs to handle youth development like they do in many sports across the world

Reducing the season by 10 games will do nothing when you have 6’6 220 pound men doing explosive side steps and step backs and have been constantly doing it since they were teenagers
