Reported by Variety yesterday, confirmed by Ubisoft today, Tom Hardy will star in Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, the Ubisoft film adaptation of the game franchise.

Hardy co-starred recently as Bane in this year’s The Dark Knight Rises, will play Sam Fisher, a special ops agent for the organization known as Echelon. Eric Singer (The International) will write the script.


“Tom Hardy is currently one of the biggest talents in the film industry, and he has a phenomenal ability to take on complex and varied roles with his broad range of acting skills,” said Jean-Julien Baronnet, CEO of Ubisoft Motion Pictures. “His involvement in the Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell movie is exciting news for movie and video game fans alike. Meanwhile, Eric Singer is one of the most talented writers of the moment, and … we’re confident he’ll bring a fresh approach and create a thrilling story … while still respecting all the codes and traditions of the franchise that are so important to fans.”

Why do people not think he will do good at it? I'm surprised Thor didn't get any burn or chris pine. Well Chris is a skinny dude. Captain America should have got it unless contract issues

Well you see video games to films have a hard history. Just like how movies to video games are almost always trash.

I don't know why but video games are the only entertainment medium that can't catch a break when it's getting a movie.

Novels, short stories, and comics that get movies are :whoo:

just finished watching lawless.He's amazing with his versatility all that hummin' around he was doin' in this was hilarious:russ: so anyone saying he can't do sam fisher makes me:pacspit:

great news y'all another movie with Hardy it's scary how talented he is go watch bronson and fighter then lawless and tell me he cant pull off fisher:pachaha:
