That was for sure an iconic time. One of my close friends went through a break up that exact time, and he always references Nothing Was The Same as saving him on those days. We drove around playing Furthest Thing one day
i used to run back Too Much and The Language, I go back to Connect a lot recently
years later the breakup music hits me a bit more emotionally, I was only like 27 or so at the time. It's a good album, very cohesive, and almost timeless, doesn't feel as aged as his debut, and a little crisper than Take Care's softer edges.
Production had the perfect fall/winter feeling. And yes, I udnerstand Drake's limitations as an artists, and the way his writing is generic in a sense, and this was instagram was just getting started, and rarely from the heart, but he is a new generation from guys like Jay, Nas and Pac. Like, you can tell the bars aren't really reflecting his life most of the time, it's for you to see yourself in, but it's dope regardless.
