To our valued members and partners,
I couldn’t think of a more exciting time to be contacting you. The city of Atlanta has rallied around our Hawks and shown amazing support as we currently lead the Indiana Pacers 3-2 in our first round series and host Game 6 tonight - right here at Philips Arena.
If you haven’t already seen or heard the news this morning, today we are unveiling our new secondary mark - although you may find it a bit familiar. The logo is an evolved interpretation of the Hawks logo that was used by the franchise from 1972-95. It is also affectionately known as the "Pac Man" logo.
We have heard from Hawks fans near and far, as well as young and old. The new secondary Hawks logo pays homage to one of the franchise’s most successful periods, while spotlighting the current team’s aggressive and attacking brand of basketball that has the number one seed Indiana Pacers facing elimination tonight. Put quite simply, the Pac Man personifies the Atlanta Hawks.
The evolved logo features a more fierce Hawks mark that represents some bold moves the franchise has made and will continue to make. We plan on operating the Hawks in a bold, exciting fashion. We think this new chapter in Hawks history also makes quite the fashion statement. We pledge to deliver to our partners, members and fans a product that will make you proud to be a member of the Hawks family.
Personally, this logo brings back some fond memories for me. As a teenager and young adult, I watched firsthand some of the most exciting teams in franchise history don this jersey. My children, and so many Hawks fans today, became fans in an era whose essence can be captured by this mark. As Hawks fans, we can honor our past by introducing it into our present and future. Our current Hawks players are making history of their own, and we are all witness as these two eras collide with the return of our beloved Pac Man mark.
Now, I humbly ask for your help. When you enter Philips Arena tonight, you will see an awesome red t-shirt with the new logo on your seat.
Wear it with pride for our team and city. If for some reason you can’t or are unable to don the T-shirt, please wear red. Help us to take the amazing environment you created in Games 3 and 4 to the next level in Game 6, as we create a high-impact and stunning visual for all NBA fans watching and cheering for our beloved Team on TV.
Please make sure to arrive early tonight as the game is sold-out and traffic is expected to be heavy. The game will tip off at 7p and doors will be open as early as 5p to accommodate the traffic flow. For a faster entrance, members can enter at the members only entrances located around the building at the main CNN entrance, the Main Box Office, the CNN Parking Deck bridge and the Marta Doors entrances.
I’ll see you tonight and Go Hawks!
Steve
