I have I am Setsuna on PC and it's the rawest RPG I've played in years. I think mixed reviews only stem from young bucks that don't get it. If you messed with final fantasy 4-10, this is your shyt. Story is straight to the point, not overloaded with BS text and backstory. Battle system is dope and is a nice spin on the chrono trigger style. Nice atmosphere with really good music, it really gives you that true old school vibe. Not a grind fest at all, save points right where you need them so you don't gotta play hours at a time....to me this is exactly what is been missing from the rpg genre that's been lost over the years.
I recommend this shyt heavy brehs.
Just to expand a little on the battle system if you wanna know read on. It's deeper than it gets credit for.
For one like Chrono Trigger, enemies can move during battle, and certain abilities you use can move your character or the enemy. They added more strategy to this by having for example an enemy that can explode on death....so you may wanna kill them using a skill that knocks 'em back. Also certain buffs/de buffs/attacks will hit more/less characters depending on the spacing and where they are at. Another example off the top of my head is the character Setsuna uses a Rinoa type ranged weapon and if you can line up the enemies she can hit whoever is in the line rather than only the one you choose to attack
There's a thing you can use called Momemtum. Imagine in FF 4-9 when you switched to your other character cuz the dude who's turn was up wasn't ready to go (i.e. Waiting to heal), in this game you get rewarded for that. When your ATB is filled, if you don't do shyt another meter fills and you get a stock of momentum (up to 3 stock). So with momentum stock you can use any attack/skill etc and boost it by hitting X(or square on ps4) b4 the attack. It adds damage but it can also add effects, like elemental/status/hitting multiple targets.
Enemies appear on the map, no random battles. You get rewarded by back attacking by getting a free momentum stock for your whole party which makes dungeon encounters go wayyy faster. This is some serious quality of life shyt. ....there's a lil more but that's enuff for now..... N again if u loved the golden era of RPGs this is your shyt. Back when it was about the journey, the atmosphere/world, and building up your squad.....not some bs with 8 million lines of text you don't give a shyt about!
