This is not my lane.. I very seldom listened to so-called back pack rap. I just said I didnt bother to listen to a full Doom project til like 2 years ago. lol

Im getting better with it over the years with Griselda camp and Larry June. Shyt like that.

For those who do, Who are the top 10 best underground rappers?

I need to go back and listen to some catalogues.

I always messed with Pharoah Monch and Organized Konfusion.

On the MF DOOM tip, usually heads that rocked with other Rhymesayers. Aesop Rock usually got the most love, but I was a bigger fan of Brother Ali out of that clique. They're the two that come to mind when I think of NYC underground scene growing up.

Another older underground crew from the NYC scene that I think is dope AF is Natural Elements.

If you want to hear classic bars, wordplay, and flows from backpackers.....go on YouTube and listen to any 1 hr plus Stretch and Bobbito show from the 1990s.

My Personal List would be
Joey Badass
Curren$y
Benny the Butcher
Chip the Ripper
Cyhi da Prynce
MF Doom
Dom Kennedy
MF Doom
Mos Def
Larry June/Westside Gunn

I’m 30 so a lot of the older ones wouldn’t go into my favorites

Edit
Phone can be added since Mos Def is on here. He would knock Gunn to honorable mention because I listen to Little Brother more
