Bron literally jumping over dude only 71??? :mindblown:
Mcgrady off the glass 70???

To me Wade over Varejao will always be 1
the Shawn Kemp fingerpoint 2
And Kobe behind the back 180 in transition 3
Lebron is not a creative dunker. I mean he has good leaping ability and use a lot of power on his dunks. But the dunks very simple. :manny:

The 1984 dunk contest is on YouTube. Tell me Dr. J was more about gliding and hangtime off the video.

Vince was more like Dr. J than any other dunker. They both have huge hands, jump off one foot, and super long arms which adds to the dunk appeal but also allows them to do some dope contortion dunks but also dunk with power.

oh really? I see more similarities to dominique wilkins, he might be the first to do full extension windmills 360s and double pump jams, carter continues that tradition, heck he even combined two of them into one like in 2000 sdc, he is similar to erving also, like I said he mastered both parts of the dunking game.

1984 not proving much, he was getting old and losing some of his hangtime

I don't know, maybe we look at this differently, when I see guys like nique, kemp, dawkins, griffin, sometimes even smaller guys like richardson or mason, this is what I consider power

erving is in the category with guys like jordan, drexler, connie hawkins, big hands and can jump from far so which makes them do some spectacular tricks, they can easily jump from the free throw line, I mean all signature dunks by julius erving are made by gliding with some power but gliding maters more, the 70s style was more like gliding, in like mid 80s the dunking added new style of that extension when the guy jumps, reaches like the peak and like adds lil more power. Every decade was adding more pieces to the dunking game.

You can look at Dr. J in any era and see his dunks had power to them. That "rock the baby" dunk he used to do was all about power.

I think Dr. J's dunks may look a certain way to you because of it being on old film, instead of standard def video like those later dunkers. Dr. J and Vince Carter are similar dunkers to me.

'Nique was an evolution and added more to the game because NBA dunkers were not doing a lot of the stuff he was doing before he arrived, but Dr. J could pull off all of those things.

Vince saw 'Nique and emulated that stuff, but he and Dr. J had that same combination of gliding ability and power.

I've always said Vince is the best dunker. Getting to watch all his early days with the Raptors was crazy. I had forgot about that spin dunk on Vlade.

Good video. It was like 90% all recent era dunks up until the top 20.

There were a couple of memorable dunks that are missing but i understand some of these top 100 ones deserve to be there

  • Harold Miner's dunk on David Robinson his second year
  • There was a dunk by Pippen... cant recall who it was on but the sh!t was one of the sickest dunks ever. It was the year jordan retired. Not the one on Ewing
  • Mourning's dunk on Muresean in Washington
  • That alley Kemp caught from Payton where he swung around the rim

I agree that erving had both power and gliding, it's just when I look at the whole picture from around 60s to the today's nba I would rather consider erving more like a glider, it's a very rare kind of dunkers, barely you can find a dunker who makes it look so easy dunking from the free throw line, to me that part of his dunking game is more famous that's why I would rather consider him someone like a glider. No denying he has power also.

Miner's dunk on robinson? Do you happen to have a video clip of that? I have lots of vintage nba material especially 90s but haven't seen that dunk
Not sure which Pippen dunk you are talking about but he also had a sick dunk against clippers but the camera angle ruined and thought of just not putting that dunk
Kemp alley oop you mean the one vs warriors in playoffs? Was strongly considering but Idk changed my mind, the dunk worth honorable mention, I got this one on another mixtape, 09:36

The one I was talking about is the one at the 9:40 mark. My all time favorite is the one at the 10:32 and 8:58 mark but the one at 3:15 makes me really reminisce how good homie was

THe Miner one was one where he cocked it back as he jumped and Robinson jumped AFTER Miner but MIner hung in the air long enough for Robinson to start going back down and dude just hammered that shyt.

They got most of the great dunks in there, but I definitely don't agree with the order of it. Too many to name, but the Stromile Swift dunk on Ty Thomas shoulda been top ten. That shyt was vulgar. :merchant:
