sadly there is no budget for real directors at this point. post 2004 with the rise of easily affordable h.d cameras its just a rat race among your neighborhood hood director

Nah, it's more along the lines that since technology became more available... these big name dudes don't have any true advantages over a college kid who's full of ideas and has enough time on their hands to create.
