To be honest with you I had never heard that until I saw people saying it on Coli lmao . I'm not saying it isn't a valid concern but I'd have to re-watch with that in mind. Is it that there aren't any positive males figures to counter Danny Glover's character?

Shug's father was the closest to a positive male figure in that movie.
The movie was controversial for its portrayal of black men when it was released
