Tornado Watch for all of NY/NJ?

It's probably not gonna happen, a tornado watch just means that the conditions are favorable for a tornado to occur :manny:


The whole East Coast is getting washed out today :whew:

how are we 1.getting tstorms (starting around 4) its about like 10 degrees out

2. are tornados capable of forming in any type of temperature?

It's a cold front coming over the northeast so when the warm air is colliding with the cool air coming in it creates thunderstorms because the air is unstable.

Add that along with the high winds today and you begin to get some rotation within the storms.


Once it cools below 65 degrees, tornadoes rarely happen and if they do they are short lived and weak in power

A lake near Tampa FL
For some reason only the suburbs surrounding NYC gets hit hard with these storms and the Five Boroughs themselves is usually fine. :mindblown:

If I had choice though I would prefer living in Long Island or Westchester over the Five Boroughs though :ehh:
