They technically can, but he can't DH after they bring in a new pitcher. They'd have to replace 1 of their outfielders for Ohtani. But that's not practical, given that you'd want your best hitters out there for Game 7. Plus Ohtani hasn't fielded in 4 years.

So for all intents and purposes, Ohtani needs to start. I don't see him going many innings though
