The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is the muscle car to end all muscle cars with its incredible 707 horses of barely contained power. Deliveries of the Challenger Hellcat have only just begun, but already one has met an untimely demise.

It shouldn’t be that surprising that some of these proud new Hellcat owners were a little overconfident behind the wheel. We all like to think of ourselves as decent drivers, but the 707 horsepower that Dodge gave this car is nothing to mess with. One unlucky guy found that out within just an hour of driving away in his shiny new Hellcat.

This particular lime green Hellcat met the end of its life on the roads of Colorado. TFLCar.com tells us (with additional photos from the scene and aftermath) that the car skidded off the road at a bend and smacked head-on into a tree. Looks like the tree won.

The driver of the car was thankfully OK (as were two passengers), but after only an hour behind the wheel, his car was not so lucky as you can see from the photo above posted at MotorAuthority.com. It’s likely to be a complete write-off and it’s amazing that the guy wasn’t seriously injured. Let this serve as a reminder that with great power comes great responsibility and the need to ease up on the gas (and increase your insurance coverage).

Within an hour of driving it away... :snoop:

:smh: that is un responsible for a car company to allow that kind of power on the streets. 700 horsepower, why? The speed limit stops at 75

This is why I respect Soichiro Honda and his philosophy. You make advancements within the limits alotted to you. Lucky this man didn't hurt himself or anyone... Hopefully his next car will be a 1997 ITR and he will be exposed to the temple of VTEC... The sublime work of art that is the B18C. Subtlety is the highest form of refinement and if we are to survive as a species we need to forego old ways of destructive thinking; such as flagrant exhibition for the sake of dopamine release in the primal brain.

First of all the car comes with 2 keyfobs. it's not automatically 700hp off the bat. the black key and the red key. this guy used the red key and probably sped off thinking he was dale earnheart... but what a fukking idiot. 700HP is nothing to sneeze at. the craziest thing is that he's alive and that was a waste of 50K plus...

fukking idiot...

Plenty of Ford Mustangs with high output don't get trashed. But put the keys into the hands of a teenager as a sweet 16 or graduation present, good bye car.

I was not aluding to chronological age... I'm talking about evolutionary age! And what we need to do in order to come up TOGETHER. I must say, It is an amazing time to be alive as a human player in the current Earth template.

I can only imagine what it was like for those two passengers.

Driver: Can you feel the power?
Passenger 1: Kind of. I guess.
Driver: Well, I've been taking it easy on the engine. But, hold onto your seatbelts... <floors the accelerator pedal>
Passenger 2: Whoa....
Driver: That's what I'm talkin'...
Passenger 1: Curve coming up!!!
Driver: Uh ooo..... <crash>

NOT A GOOD LOOK FOR SRT STEERING AND HANDLE DEPARTMENT.

Potentially could have been avoided if the car utilized a 4 wheel steering system such as one developed at the Wako R&D Center by Shoichi Sano and Osamu Furukawa. Featured on the 1st gen Honda prelude

See, shyt like this makes Baby Jesus cry. I know I felt like shedding some tears when I 1st read it. And it's in the color I wanted. But this happens all the time though. Someone has got more power than skill will mess up anything. He should have just took it easy for at least the 1st couple of days.
