I get the comparison tho .... is this supposed to be controversial :yeshrug:

It's not controversial though. TMac wasn't saying that as a diss to RW or AI. He was basically saying that Westbrook needs to play with players who wouldn't have a problem differing to him. Basically surround him great role players.

allen iverson woulda done a lot more with the team Russ has

He kinda had that team with a prime melo, lol.

Iverson and shaq would have had a ring. Shaq was just too strong and dominate 99-2002.

And I dobut Iverson would have gave shaq the ball 15 feet away from the basket like kobe did in 04 finals without getting it back. Orlando shaq when he was more athletic sure...but in 04 shaq was just big and quick in small spaces. Granted Karl Malone would have changed the dynamic...but kobe getting trapped and not getting the ball back through movement and aggression afterwards wasn't a good look. Kobe let himself get taken out of the game as he wasn't psycho bean and relentless...he needed to be the man and not defer to shaq in that series in order to win and he wasn't quite ready.

As dynamic as Russell is, Allen Iverson would not have wasted the amount of talent Westbrook has had the luxury of being surrounded with.

The main problem that no one seems to talk about is their WOAT head coach. He's literally a waste of space. Doesn't even run a capable system for them

If Westbrook has a coach like Larry Brown, he can win a title

The AI model of "surround him with spot-up shooters and a defensive big while my dynamite guard takes 30 shots" doesn't work.

It didn't work for AI.
It didn't work for Rose.
It's not gonna work for Westbrook.

But they didn’t surround iverson with spot up shooters

They surrounded him with offensive liabilities

Tell that to T-Mac who made the comparison, though back then 3PT shooting at all positions wasn't a standard. Whether they're knockdown shooters or "grit & grind" types, putting your PG/small guard with players who don't care about scoring and asking for 35 points and all around impact hasn't worked. Curry is an anomaly but Westbrook cannot shoot like Curry or anywhere near it, and if not for Kyrie's knee Curry might not have been that anomaly but that's a whole another box to open.
