Pros for Cavs:
Holiday plays both sides of the court can shoot and doesn't have an issue not being the focal point on offense...Asik can be the low post defender who doesn't need the ball to have an effect on the game.
Pros for Pelicans:
Irving will be another star player to team with AD whose also young and locked into a contract...he can provide range shooting while Evans handles the rock or handle the rock and work with Eric Gordon. Plus lets be honest Irving brings endorsements and attention. Team is more marketable with 2 budding superstars (AD is already there).
Won't happen but I can see how it will help both teams long term....near term the pelicans will be at a disadvantage because Asik is there center and they want to keep AD at PF...The Pelicans will make a big splash and a commitment to the future by having 2 stars on the team who will feed off of each other as AD will cover up Irvings primary weakness and if Evans gets it together he can go back to be an 18pt 5ast 5rb guy with good defense.
Cons for Cavs:
they will no longer be a big 3...
This trade is highly unlikely due to the fact that like it or not Irving is consider a star player rather he deserves to be or not and it's hard to deal a potential superstar for 2 good starters...even though I would the teams merchandise would take a hit.
Cons for Pelicans:
near term the pelicans will be at a disadvantage because Asik is there center and they want to keep AD at PF...However they will be able to sign a free agency big to fill in at Center and have a few tradeable assets.
The trade is highly unlikely but if I were the Cavs gm I'd do it...
