I still don't see how cats make the reach that the "hard to swallow" line was a Prodigy diss.

It's a figure of speech. Nas would have to be the biggest dikkhead on the planet to mock someone's manner of death at the same time he's memoralizing him.

That's like saying it's disrespectul to take shots of liquor in memory of someone who died from gun violence or something like that. Everything in a song isn't metaphorical with hidden messages.
