Donald Trump just deaded the neoliberal consensus with an electoral playbook as old as the United States itself.
The democrats needs need to go back to old school liberalism: tax the corporations, raise wages, put food on the table. No more gay stuff---that well is dry now that same-sex marriage is legal. No more feminist stuff---white women in red states have officially shown that they don't care all that much.
The centerpiece of the democratic party's platform has to be old-school working man liberalism. Period. The discussion about race and immigration has to dovetail into labor. I know it shouldn't have to, but that's the political reality. Bernie tried to do that and he failed.
Now we're all paying for it.

- Middle class jobs (read: white middle class jobs)
- A healthy pinch of racism and anti-immigration sentiment
