Treating teenagers like kids until they turn 18 has done more harm than good

In terms of mental development. Besides going to school most teens are treated like kids from a mental standpoint. Then they spend half their 20's figuring out what they want to do in life. By the time they do 1/4 of your life is over. They don't learn basic shyt.


Most parents treat school like babysitting or daycare. Merely a break from responsibility. We have too much technology for the younger generation to be this stupid. Most only care about bullshyt.

The real tragedy is parents refuse to SPEAK to their kids like a younger version of themselves and be honest about where they went wrong, to guide their child to do better. So you have parents pretending they’re perfect and kids following their lead coming to the realization early their parent ain’t shyt and can’t even be honest with themselves.

America has this werid obsession with becoming full of shyt adults who just think teens dont know anything and cant be held responsible. The same mfs that was 18 hollering that ima adult and a grown ass man shyt the same mfs calling teens children now and acting like teens are innocent and dont know shyt. I be sitting there like breh you dont remember all the wild and reckless shyt we was doing growing up. What makes you think these teens aint on the same type of time. Same thing applies to women. bytch i used to fukk with was 19 fukking with a 33 year old. Now that shes 34 she wanna talk about how inappropriate their relationship was. Have talked to many parents (close and not) and many have admit their protective nature has, in fact, been overprotective and, thus, not allowing their youngins to grow some independence.

kids in the “developing world” mature faster than first world kids because they have a lot of responsibility at a young age, no government safety net so they have to be helping out from very early. I knew kids that were going to the corner shop to buy items for their parents at a very young age; not just cigarettes lol. They understand struggle and forced into accountability, many before they are even pre teens. That kind of responsibility is only seen as a disservice in first world countries, that’s the norm for kids in other countries.

Is this babying mostly for white kids? I cant imagine black kids grew up with the same level of pandering. I would imagine black kids in the US grew up with a fair amount of responsibility.


I was listening to a TED talk once and psychologist was saying that kids naturally want to help when they are younger and we don’t want them to make a mess or inconvenience is so we discourage them coupled with our own trauma of having to do more than we should early on. Then at 18 we’re just pushed into the wild world and have to figure it out.
