My how time flies....but that :shaq: trade really shifted the balance of power in the NBA.

- Afterwards, the Bulls had a fairly easy path. The Magic were the only matchup that could give them real probs.....and they would've had next after Jordan left. The Pacers were good, but they were really past their window by 97, etc. and we all knew they weren't winning anyway. :comeon:

Then Jordan left....

-The Knicks/Heat were then battling to see who could miss the most shots, and score 70 points first :scust:. I thought the Bucks had a core, but....nah

-Then the 76ers came outta the East, we all knew they weren't winning :aicmon:

- Then the Nets became the Eastern mainstay a few years, we knew they weren't gonna win against the Spurs/Lakers:childplease: Hell, the Kings back then would've likely washed any Eastern team.

- That Pistons squad tho :wow: was one of the only saving graces of this era. They rose up & really were a true competition for the west for a few years in the mid-00's.

-Heat beat the Mavs in 06. :ehh: (Shaq & D. Wade)

- I will say the East in 07-09 was bubbling. The Cavs, Wizards(with Arenas), Magic (prime Dwight), all had good cores. But aside from NEEDING to build super teams like the Big 3 Celtics and Heat, the East has been garbage for the better part of 20 years. :yeshrug:

I've always said this. Eastern teams just don't develop teams correctly and the stars always seem to fall to the West. Its unfortunate. Those Pistons teams from the mid 00's were the only real contenders from the East that were really organic. No super team. The rest is just sad. Cavs can't build around LBJ so he had to go to Miami. Heat were mediocre till they got Shaq. That Celtic team was dope, but still considered a super team. That Magic team with Howard had lots of potential but Dwight never developed offensively any further after that 2010 run.

Define organic? When Miami won in 2006, Shaq wasn't Prime Shaq anymore. 2006 was basically Dwade vs the NBA. That 2006 team had great veteran role players. But that was hardly what I'd call a super team. Dwade basically made the leap VERY early, and pretty much carved out a HOF career in his 1st 5-6yrs in the league.

False.

West is drastically overrated is the correct answer.

Exactly. People stay hyping middle of the road teams that put up a lot of pretty points and flame out come playoff time. shyt was pretty bad at the turn of the century and people just can't let it go.
