Exactly. People stay hyping middle of the road teams that put up a lot of pretty points and flame out come playoff time. shyt was pretty bad at the turn of the century and people just can't let it go.

I think it's pretty safe to say those "middle of the road" seed teams would handle their Eastern counterparts in a series

I've always said this. Eastern teams just don't develop teams correctly and the stars always seem to fall to the West. Its unfortunate. Those Pistons teams from the mid 00's were the only real contenders from the East that were really organic. No super team. The rest is just sad. Cavs can't build around LBJ so he had to go to Miami. Heat were mediocre till they got Shaq. That Celtic team was dope, but still considered a super team. That Magic team with Howard had lots of potential but Dwight never developed offensively any further after that 2010 run.
I think if they didn't trade for shaq that heat team probably would have ended up winning a title. They had some great young talent

Based upon what? Regular season record? Pretty point totals? Playoffs is a whole different animal that favors the gritty, slower, defensive teams.

This series isn't over, but right now....GS....OKC.....SA...maybe a healthy Clippers and Portland all give Cleveland L's in a series.

My point & the thread premise still stands

Why would this hold more weight than the GOAT team being disbanded? :dahell:

It's pretty much as simple as the West has drafted better and signed more premier free agents. Over the years guys like T-mac Shaq etc. going West made that conference even stronger then it was. And the East wasn't signing comparable talent in return. Cats like Dirk KG Kobe Tim never went East so imagine how we would look at it if Kobe or KG went to the Bulls in their prime or if Duncan would have signed with the Magic.

KG did go East and won a title

But in general, you're right. West has had better ran teams and drafted better/had more draft luck

Yeah but he didn't go until the tail end of his prime which is what I put in my og statement. Let's say it was him and Duncan between the ages of 25/26 to 33/34 battling to go to the Finals against the Shaq/Kobe led Lakers. The East would have been looked at as a lot stronger then it was.

A. the Bulls were an anomaly in the NBA in general.
B. Shaq was the future in the East
C. And even Shaq leaving made the Bulls playoff runs alot easier. We all knew the Pacers weren't beating MJ in a conf finals.
