Not saying we're at that point yet but with Republicans and "antiregulation" types getting more victories, its only a matter of time we get a modern version of this
You can make the argument in select specific cases maybe overregulation is a burden but I haven't heard many that outweigh public good. Outside of those few exceptions, most antiregulation propaganda is driving by big industry lobbyist.
