I burglarized a house when I was 14 years old.
Granted my intention wasnāt to do it if I knew someone actually lived in the house. An old friend of mine told me the house was āabandonedā but it wasnāt it was just a serious hoarder lived in it.
Anyway we stole stuff, got caught by the owner and got charged with 2nd degree burglary. In Pirroās system that wouldāve been 5 years for a 14 year old and it was a first time offense. But fortunately, back then, it was reduced to a misdemeanor and community service. Never got in trouble with the law again
Long story short kids that make mistakes can change their lives around.
Sadly it's a catch 22 nowadays. For every kid that luck up with a lesser charge and turn a new leaf on life, there's a bunch that manipulate the system because they look at it as a slap on the wrist. My wife works with kids like that who treat the facility like a prison, prepping for three hots and a cot. It sucks because the facility is for rehabilitation for what it's worth, but these youngins think prison is better. Its a weird paradox that youngins are getting groomed to accept the prison system as their permanent home. Like you have crash dummies gloating about the bids and not giving a whole shyt.
