Social Security and Medicare are the first- and third-largest programs in the federal budget, and they are pushing the government toward a fiscal crisis. Medicare spending this year, net of premiums, is $645 billion, while the second-largest program, defense, is $674 billion. But Medicare spending will surpass defense in the next year or two, and by 2029 Medicare at $1.36 trillion will dwarf defense at $787 billion, at least in the baseline projection.

An article that explains the insolvency issue.
Repeat after me: Social Security and Medicare are not insolvent | Reuters

SS is saved by just increase the income cap from 110 to 250k. Medicare spending is ballooning because safeguards put in place have been removed by Congress. Also, the payroll tax of 2.9 could be increased to 3.0. There's also the issue of wage stagnation depressing the tax revenue from SS and Medicare.

The defense spending just leaves you speechless. :wow:

There are projects out there from roads to sewer/water systems that can't pay for a tiny 1 billion or so in improvements, but we approaching $750 billion/yealy military if this part of plan goes through. This is what Tulsi is talking about, we are succking out our treasury for what exactly?? We were literally unable to pay for the government a few weeks ago.

Here's the great part about this Establishment Dems are just as likely to approve this as Establishment Repubs. :scust:

Just so yall can see how insane this has become....
  • In 2001, defense spending was around $200 billion
  • By 2013 it jumped to $530 billion, https://www.washingtonpost.com.
  • Trump wants 2020 to be $750 billion.

Tulsi, please win. Get these warmongers on a shopping spree outta here, :ohlawd:

What do you expect to happen when the nations largest population group is nearing or in retirement. Should've saw this coming years ago. The thing with freedom is you can choose to not save a dime (for those that can) and fall back on government programs..

Military spending is even more out of control. $85 Million for each F35 made. the program cost 1.5 Trillion. Had this amount been used to subsidize those seeking higher education, our college debt problem wouldnt be so bad and the economy would benefit from home purchases, etc.

sacrifice your nations future by subscribing to pointless arms races brehs..
