Trump to Pick Mike Pence, Says Source
Announcement expected Friday

Donald Trump is planning to announce that Indiana Gov. Mike Pence is his choice for his vice presidential running mate, according to a Republican with direct knowledge of the decision.

As Trump narrowed in on his choice of Pence, the two men spent time at both Trump's golf resort in New Jersey in early July and at the Indiana governor's mansion this week.

Pence is a culture warrior, so I can see this neutralizing the #NeverTrump-ers and solidifying the conservative base for Trump. Not a bad strategy. He's not a great attack dog, but then again Donny doesn't need one, he can handle that on his own. Pence definitely won't expand the base though, I don't see independents being energized by him.

The Pence-Kaine VP debates are gonna be boring af :shaq2:

Trump a fukking idiot... :mjlol:

Nah, this gives Trump space to execute the shift. IIRC Pence endorsed Cruz, so he has the legitimacy to say he was converted, which will be a necessary tone to strike in the general.

Pence: Donald Trump and I don't agree on everything. I, like you, found some of the things he's said in the past to be offensive and perhaps inappropriate. But after talking with him, spending time with him and his family, I can now see that everything Donald has done and said has been in the name of Making America Great Again. His only crime is being too passionate about this country and seeing it safe again and prosperous again.

People can fundamentally disagree on certain things, but still agree on most things, while working together to reach a common goal. I know, strange concept.

:ohhh:

But what will be pathetic is if and when he reverses course and cosigns Trump's position like all politicians do.

:ehh:

I don't know shyt about Pence, but quickly read he is very socially conservative, which I hate.

:francis:

Just hope he keeps that shyt to himself.

Or since tough guy Trump :whoa: on the Muslim ban a few weeks ago it won't matter until the debates because the media let's his campaign basically do whatever and normalizes his terrible policies.

Yeah, I think the only time the rift would come up is when prompted by Hillary's camp during the debates. Pence's job until then is to continue to herd his people (cultural conservatives, traditional republicans) onto the Trump Train. Hillary's VP will definitely go after Pence for being a traitor to his conscience and cause though, so Pence has to have a proper response to that charge.

Seems more like a move to consolidate R support then it is to grow R electorate.

I would've preferred Gingrich.
This is a way better pick than Gingrich. Gingrich is sleazy piece of shyt who is hated by everyone and has negatives that rival Trump.

Pence is probably the most solid VP pick he could make. He is good with evangelicals/conservatives and probably won't alienate too many independents.
