The Russians can now say the US is the one that withdrew and point the finger.

This is a Bolton move. Remember, this really began during BUSH. Bolton was the one who got Bush to pull out of the ABM Treaty in 2002.

Funny enough, Bolton is in Moscow this week.

The Trump and Bush administrations are responsible for tearing up important arms control agreements. ABM in 2002 and the Iran Deal this past Spring.

people wondering whether pulling out of this is good or bad for "russia" are asking the wrong question. it was in russian peoples interests and the americans interests to sign this treaty because nuclear proliferation is extremely dangerous.
the actor whose interests pulling out IS good for is putin and the russian security establishment. and it helps him push his whole west vs Russia narrative on the domestic front where its highly popular.
